Writing, Ideas, Quality, WFH
☕ Good Morning!
Today, my newsletter will revolve around writing and I begin with a Tweet by KP, referencing a great article written by Lawrence Yeo on the power of writing. Many of us not only write newsletters but may also keep a journal or use a productivity planner. Leo rightly says, that “whenever you sit down to write, you are making a commitment to reflect on the nature of things”. He continues that your writing will become the “personal manifestation of all the wisdom you’ve had access to, but never consolidated into a concrete and recognizable shape.” And the result will be that will gain access to a “kinder and wiser version of yourself” whenever you need it. Completely agree! You can read this great piece here.
🚀 Maker Stories
As many of you probably noticed the writer David Perell, shared a 50 Tweet thread with us a few days ago on the 50 ideas that changed his life. A multitude of insightful ideas and theories that can inspire and help everyone. Read the full post here.
🏗️ Build + Launch
Lenny Rachitsky has written a great free newsletter and resource on how the biggest consumer apps got their first 1,000 users. Great learnings for all Makers revolving around seven strategies for growth. Many startups just followed one, and as you’ve probably guessed, the most successful one is going to your user directly. You can review Lenny’s Twitter thread or read the full newsletter here.
On to Austin Rief, co-founder of the daily newsletter Morning Brew, who recently tweeted that if you are not the best at what you are writing about, you should reconsider having a paid newsletter. Unless your excellence and quality can generate the required paying membership, you will be missing out on a potentially larger subscriber base, which you could otherwise monetize more effectively. Not sure I agree with this entirely, as there are many niches, where a good writer and researcher can gain a solid subscriber base (1000 True Fans). You can read the full Twitter thread here.
We’ve heard of 12 startups in 12 months, Chris from GrowthList.co has taken this concept further and has decided to create 20 newsletters in 20 days. Look forward to seeing the results when finished. Bonne Chance!!!
🖥️ NoCode
David Adkin, co-founder of Adalo is launching a book and mini-series on the future of NoCode. In this pre-launch post, he speaks about what inspired him to delve deeper into this topic and how he reached out to the top NoCode experts in the industry to discuss with them the most pertinent questions about the space. Look forward to reviewing this when it comes out. Read his post here.
💭 Afterthought
To conclude the day, Jack Dorsey has announced that Twitter employees will be able to WFH permanently. I am sure this will be the first of many companies announcing this new working arrangement. It seems Coronavirus has managed to change the way how much of society will work for the foreseeable future. Have a great evening!
