Biases, Fallacies, Istria ☀️
👋 Welcome!
Good morning from beautiful and sunny Istria. I spent the last two days driving with my wife from London to Istria in northern Croatia. We travelled via France, Germany, Austria and Slovenia, crossing The Vosges Mountains in Alsace and The Alps in Carinthia. An amazing journey with stunning and changing scener. And such a welcome change to London. I was expecting some checks at borders regards COVID, but these were negligible. It was one of the smoothest road trips I’ve had. I will spend the next few weeks working from this idyllic setting. I also hope it will give my creativity and productivity a boost of energy. In addition to my daily newsletter, I’ve wanted to begin writing about my past entrepreneurial activities and experiences. Now is the time to take action, so watch out for more in the coming weeks! I leave you with a photo from this morning (Adriatic in the background) and wish you all a productive and successful week!

🚀 Maker News
Product Biases + Fallacies
Shreyas Doshi shares an insightful thread on the “biases and fallacies we encounter when building products,” often leading to many having little to no impact. One such example is “The Bias-for-Building Fallacy.” As Shreyas explains, “we don’t take the time to thoroughly understand the problem, domain, competitors & other determinants of product success because we feel compelled to be in constant motion.” What’s the solution? One needs “to recognize & call out whenever” one sees this crop up. If you are a Maker or Solopreneur, a good way to uncover these issues early is to find a community of people with similar goals. Meet with them regularly to evaluate and validate your product. Read the full thread.

Tweet Content
Inspired by Daniel Vassallo’s Twitter course, Stefan Vetter shares a quick & dirty drawing of what he believes you should tweet about. It’s the intersection between what interests you, interests your audience and for what you have credibility. Read Tweet.

💭 Afterthought
To finish the day, some useful advice from David Perell for newsletter writers. Before you consider going paid, you need to build up a substantial and engaged audience, especially if your newsletter is less niche. A crucial reason for this as both @lennysan and @packym explain, is that once you go paid, it will get more difficult to attract new signups and subscribers from the occasional free publication and ultimately slow your growth. Take care and see you tomorrow!
